Greetings and salutations.
What is Eikon?
EIKON (eye-kon) is the Greek word for “image.” In the Scripture human beings are said to be made in the eikon (image) of God. We find that humanity has not lived up to this image and has made very serious mistakes. The scriptures also tell us how Jesus Christ was the perfect eikon of God, and so we have taken the name Eikon to reflect who God made us to be, and who Jesus taught us to be. The world is beautiful but sick. As Eikon, we desire to become part of creation’s redemption by loving God in the way of Jesus, serving creation, and radically loving others.
Eikon is what we call a small part of God’s church body here in Fort Worth, Texas. We currently meet twice a month on Sundays for worship, but that is not what we call church. The church lives 24/7… in mission groups where we plot for the good of Fort Worth; the church is present… in our families where love is modeled and mistakes are made in safe places; the church is in coffee house conversations and when parents talk during halftime at their children’s soccer game. That is just a small part of what we believe church really is.
